Our Expedition Sailboat & Home
Curio is our 50ft Beneteau Oceanis designed for comfortable long-distance cruising, offshore passages, and the occasional race from BC to Hawaii.
Commissioned in 2011 by a dear friend who was a seasoned offshore racer, and liveaboard diver, Curio was born to cross oceans and spend weeks (even months) away from civilization. From the start, Curio was outfitted with long-range fuel and water capacity, a watermaker, solar panels, SSB radio capability, plus a full compliment of cruising and racing sails. When we acquired Curio in 2021 we built on that vision of free-range liveaboard sailing by installing a large lithium house bank, Starlink internet, and upgrading its safety systems.
We think he’d be proud of Curio, as we’re proud of its pedigree and his legacy.
Curio is now our full-time home and studio, and is base camp for our annual six-month expeditions in the Northeast Pacific Ocean.
Since 2018 we’ve done over 10,000 nautical miles while living and working aboard full-time.

In 2018 my husband, Tom, and I sold our apartment, car, and most of our belongings to move aboard our first sailboat, a 40-foot Beneteau Oceanis named Marigold.
With our Alaskan husky, Micah, we left behind over a decade of mountain biking, ski touring, and snowboarding in British Columbia's Coast Mountains to sail into the sunset of the Salish Sea.
